From Student to Leader: My ECA Journey
As ECA celebrates 20 years, I’m also celebrating a very personal milestone: 19 years connected with ECA, starting with one year as a student and now 18 years as a staff member.
ECA has been a huge part of my life. I came here as a student looking for an opportunity, and today I have the privilege of helping create opportunities for the next generation of students.
What has kept me here for so many years is the people and the genuine sense of care. Rupesh and Archana have always made people feel valued, and that personal connection has remained even as ECA has grown.
Working in Student Acquisition has also given me a strong sense of responsibility. For our Sales, Admissions and Marketing teams, it is not just about enrolments or targets. Every student represents a person with ambitions for their future.
We are helping people get an education, build careers and ultimately create jobs and better lives. I know what that opportunity can mean because I was once one of those students.
After 19 years, I’m incredibly proud to still be part of ECA and grateful for the opportunities, friendships and experiences along the way.

From Local Networks to Global Classrooms
When I started at ECA, technology meant a small campus network, a handful of servers and a team you could count on one hand. Today I look after IT across multiple campuses and entities, and we are building an entire university campus in Bengaluru with Birkbeck, University of London. That arc says most of what needs saying about this place. If you put your hand up, ECA will hand you something bigger.
What has kept me here for so long is not the projects, though. It is the people. I have watched colleagues join as graduates and grow into leaders, and I have worked alongside some of them for well over a decade now. There is a habit here of backing each other in, particularly when something is going sideways at 11pm the night before a launch.
My favourite memories are usually the unglamorous ones. A new campus going live without a single incident. A student system finally behaving itself. Small wins, shared with people who understood exactly what they cost.
ECA has changed enormously. The willingness to have a go has not.

My Journey with ECA
My journey with ECA began in 2012 as a Data Entry Officer. Looking back, it is incredible to see how much both ECA and I have grown over the years. As the company expanded, welcoming new university partners and growing its portfolio of brands, I was fortunate to grow alongside it. Throughout my career, I progressed through several roles including Admissions Officer, Admissions Coordinator, Senior Admissions Manager, and today, Director of Admissions.
Like any organisation, ECA has experienced both challenges and successes. What has always made the difference is the people, the culture, and the shared commitment to building something meaningful. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with talented colleagues across different teams and countries, learning from them and contributing to ECA’s continued growth.
What makes ECA special to me is that I have never viewed it as just a workplace. I care for the company as if it were my own. I take pride in its achievements, respect its values, and genuinely want to see it succeed. Being part of ECA for more than a decade has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am grateful to have been part of its journey while building my own.

16 years with ECA, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has gone!
It has been a privilege to witness ECA’s journey and growth firsthand, while also growing alongside the organisation in my own career. When I first joined ECA, it was a much smaller office, with IT, Sales and Student Services all sitting together. We worked closely, knew each other well, and shared plenty of good times along the way. I still look back on those days with a lot of fondness.
Over the years, ECA has grown and changed significantly, and so has my role and career. I have had the opportunity to take on new challenges, learn from many people and achieve important milestones, both professionally and personally. There have certainly been busy and challenging moments—but also many memorable ones (and probably far too many meetings!).
Most importantly, ECA has given me wonderful people. I have made lifelong friends and built relationships that feel much more like family than colleagues.
ECA is much more than just a workplace to me. It has been a big part of my journey, and I’m proud to have grown together with ECA and to have been part of its story.
